Single jersey fabrics are a type of fabric woven only on circular knitting machines. In single jersey fabrics, which can be produced as thick or thin, one side is knitted flat and the other side is knitted reverse. As the front of the single jersey fabric has straight and the back has reverse loop structure, its front and back are different than each other.
In terms of the patterns of single jersey knit fabrics; it is possible to obtain different patterns by using auxiliary knitting elements such as straps and skips. Colorful patterns can be obtained on the single jersey fabrics woven by using the jacquard method. Single jersey fabrics can stretch both transversely and longitudinally due to their production method. There are many different varieties such as sanded single jersey, ringlet single jersey, lycra ringlet single jersey, boucle single jersey, jacquard single jersey and glitter single jersey.
Lycra single jersey fabrics have excellent stretching characteristics. Thanks to these characteristics, they are used in the production of a wide range of products from underwear to evening dresses. Single jersey jacquard fabrics are the jacquard fabrics produced by using multiple colors on single plate circular knitting machines or by using a combination of strap loop and skipping movements as one color. The most important difference that distinguishes these knits from other knits is the high pattern creation capacity by selecting the needles separately in the jacquard system.
